Day to day operations in the lab can be hectic. In such a busy environment, the routine testing of balances can be accidentally overlooked and mistakes can easily be made. The unique security functions incorporated in GWPExcellence™ ensure your tests are always done correctly and on time.
The latest firmware (version 4.60 or higher) has integrated
automatic safety functions, to ensure your XP balance is always tested
correctly. A firmware upgrade is freely available for all existing XP
balances.
Key Benefits of GWPExcellence™
1. Never forget testing
2. Guided test procedure
3. Proven documentation
Simply transfer your testing SOPs from GWPBase™ or your own system
to the balance firmware. Most parameters can be easily accessed with
just a couple of presses on the balance's touchscreen display.
In our white papers, typical customer use cases and configuration
examples are illustrated using the new XP balance firmware featuring
GWPExcellence™:
Daily Testing of an
Analytical Balance
As in a number of other industries, the pharmaceutical industry tends
to have strictly regulated areas, for example in quality control
procedures. According to the SOP, users are often obliged to subject
their balance to a daily sensitivity test. Weighings may only be
performed on balances which have tested successfully.
Daily
Visual Balance Check - Cleaning and Leveling
The pharmaceutical industry and other businesses that manufacture fine
chemicals and substances typically have very strictly regulated areas,
for example in analytical procedures. As stated in the SOP, users are
obligated to subject their balance to a daily visual balance check.
This consists of a test on cleanliness and leveling.
No Weighing with a
Blocked Balance
All balances undergo a monthly repeatability test in accordance with
U.S. Pharmacopeia. Should the balance fail this test, under no
circumstance will weighing be allowed.
Quarterly
Sensitivity Test – with a Laboratory Balance
All balances are subjected to a quarterly intensive calibration test
(sensitivity test) with two test weights. The test request from the
balance can be postponed for up to a maximum of days.
Reminder of Weight
Recertification
Each test weight has a recalibration date, on which it has to be sent
for recalibration. No weighing tests may be allowed with weights whose
recalibration date has already elapsed.
Selfdefine Test Points – for
customized weights
Businesses that utilize their own quality assurance systems often check
their balances at self-defined test points. These test points may not
coincide with IOML (International Organization of Legal Metrology)
nominal weights. In such a case, a combination of weights is needed to
give the required test weight.
Uninterrupted
Testing - During Weight-Recertification
It takes up to 6 weeks for test weights to be sent to a regular
recertification and testing of balances may not be interrupted during
this time. For this reason, reserve weights are utilized.
